oh is it a disappointment
an inevitable cliche
of surface smoke and mirrors
glossy plumages in display

this tiresome story
of pitfalls pulleys and props
drawn into a crafted loom
masking plastic id, backdrop

hope can be nauseating
with a normative xy lens in place
simplistic eyeroll perceptions –
i’ll exit this play with grace.
